The Oyo and Osun Nigeria custom service has shifted 12 sacks and 195 compressed wraps of Cannabis Sativa (Indian Hemp) weighed 259kg intercepted to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) of Oyo state command on Tuesday September 5, 2023.

Comptroller Babajide Jaiyeoba, the Custom Area Controller speaking with newsmen said the items were intercepted by Officers of the command during a Routine Patrol Operation

He highlighted that the handover aligns with the policy thrust of the Ag. Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, also aimed at bolstering the already existing inter-agency collaboration between the Nigeria Customs Service and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

He encouraged the Command's commitment to continue to carry out their duties professionally.

"We would like to seize this opportunity to assure members of the general public that Officers and Men of the Command would continue to conduct our duties professionally and leave no stone unturned to ensure that our Area of Responsibility is free from activities of unscrupulous elements with the aim of making our great Country (Nigeria) safe for all Citizens", he said.

"I will like to acknowledge and appreciate Sister Security Agencies for their collaboration in our fight against smuggling. We equally recognize the cooperation of Traditional Rulers, Community Leaders, Stakeholders, the government and good people of Oyo and Osun States in providing an enabling environment for Command Officers to perform our statutory duties optimally".
