The Speaker of the Place of Delegates, Tajudeen Abbas has expressed that north of 60,000 Nigerians have been killed because of the perpetual conflicts among herders and ranchers.


He likewise mourned that, ranchers and herders conflicts which were until now seen as a territorial or a bound struggle have taken another aspect as it has extended and developed into a more extensive clash past the lines of numerous West African nations.


During the House Ad-hoc Committee's stakeholders interactive session on the "Recurring Annual Clashes Between Farmers And Herders In Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area Of Gombe State, And Neighboring Local Government Areas, including Other Regions Of The Country With Similar Incidents" on Monday, Abbas made this statement in his opening address.


Abbas who was addressed by the Delegate Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, said it was a direct result of its suggestions to ultimately benefit the country that, the House set out to investigate the causes, nature, aspects, entertainers, effect, and conceivable answer for the pestering public test.


He said, "The conflicts have brought about avoidable misfortunes of lives and property. It is assessed that more than 60,000 individuals have been killed beginning around 2001. It shouldn't be like that.


“Nigeria's quest to attain food security and alternative foreign earnings from the agricultural sector faces a serious national security challenge due to the alarming situation of the number of people killed, injured, and kidnapped. There must be an immediate response to this threat.


"These struggles have heightened lately and it is very significant to our public safety. The appropriation of these conflicts by terrorist organizations, bandits, and international criminal organizations is even more concerning.
