Festus Keyamo has directed Airlines to leave Murtala Muhammad International airport for maintenance
An immediate directives has been given to all Airlines to leave the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos dating from October 1, 2023 for adequate maintenance.
The minister of Aviation and Aerospace development, Festus Keyamo made this statement during an inspection of the airport alongside the managing director of the Federation Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)
While speaking to journalists on Thursday 31,2023.The minister said the immediate notice was necessary to give room for total maintenance work in the airport. Keyamo directed the airlines and companies operating in the airport to move to the new terminal — MMIA terminal two.
The new terminal was inaugurated by former president Muhammadu Buhari on March, 2022. A facility located at a land mass of approximately 56,000 square meters
In his statement:
Festus Keyamo in a statement said “All airlines should vacate the MMIA before October 1 and relocate to MMIA Terminal 2,”
Mean while, the minister also announced the suspension of airports concessions and the Nigeria Air project. The concessioning of airports and the national carrier were two major projects under the aviation roadmap implemented by the immediate past administration of Buhari.
The minister said the projects would be put on hold until further notice.
