Gabonese armed force officials under the aegis of the Board of trustees for the Progress and Rebuilding of Establishments on Wednesday morning reported on public TV why they are assuming control over power from President Ali Bongo in the country.


The troopers featured serious institutional, political, monetary and social emergencies as elements answerable for the upset that they labeled, 'essential' for the advancement of the West African country.


In a cross country address delivered in French yet meant English by AFP, the junta said, "Our lovely nation, Gabon, has forever been a shelter of harmony.


“The nation is currently going through a serious crisis in its institutions, politics, economy, and social fabric.


As a result, we are compelled to acknowledge that the organization of the general elections scheduled for August 26, 2023 did not fulfill the requirements for a vote that was open, credible, and inclusive, as the people of Gabon had high hopes for.


"Added to this is reckless and eccentric administration, bringing about a proceeding with decay in friendly union, with the gamble of driving the country into disarray.


"Today, 30 August 2023, we, the safeguard and security powers, accumulated as the Council for the Progress and Reclamation of Foundations (CTRI) in the interest of individuals of Gabon and as underwriters of the organizations' security — experience chose to protect the harmony by stopping the ongoing system.


“Consequently, the truncated results of the general elections held on August 26, 2023, are canceled.


"The boundaries are shut until additional notification.


The junta settled that the organizations of the nation be all broken down including the Central Government, the Senate, the Public Gathering, the Protected Court, the Financial, Social and Ecological Board and the Gabonese Decisions Place.


As a result, they appealed to Gabonese diaspora, sister country communities residing in Gabon, and the general public to maintain their composure and tranquility.
