Building collapse at Borno IDP camp leaves seven people dead
Following a building collapse at an IDP camp in Borno state, seven deaths have been officially confirmed.
A classroom in the garrison town of Monguno that was housing a large number of internally displaced people collapsed around 1930 GMT on August 28 as a result of the previous day's torrential rains, according to AFP.
Anti-jihadist militia leader Musa Kaka stated that "seven people were killed in (the) incident and two others were injured and are currently in hospitals."
Kaka stated that the incident took place in a former secondary school that is now an IDP camp and is home to around 5,000 people. Ahmad Babangida, a resident who was present for the event, confirmed that the body was buried on Tuesday, August 29.
"My friend's son was among the seven dead, and his wife is in the hospital with a fractured leg," added Babangida.
