The Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has debunked that N150 billion “Bridging Finance” facility was never a fresh loan but a part of the N270 billion the Federal Government own the state (Delta).
Okowa stressed that the N150 billion was budgeted for projects working on by his administration and his predecessor, explaining that the reason people questioned the approval of the facility by the House of Assembly was due to lack of viable information.
Okowa has also been accused of marginalizing the Ndokwa West and East Local Government Areas in his previous and present embarked projects.
Speaking during a quarterly media briefing at the press center, at the Government house Asaba.
He noted that his administration would not take any decision that jeopardise the peace, unity and overall development of the state.
The Governor also disapprove rumors flying up hill that there is no such plans of endorsement of any aspirant in all elective positions on the fourth coming 2023 presidential election.
Mean while, speaking of the primaries of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) he assured that it would be fair, transparent and credible.
“I have not endorsed any aspirant for any elective positions in the forthcoming general elections in the country. We shall provide a free, fair, transparent and credible party primaries,” he said.
Following the allegation that he hijacked the list of delegates, he described it as the handiwork of mischief makers, stressing that those who were out to disrupt the process did not succeed.
For those criticising the policies and programmes of his administration, Okowa advised them to be factual, and assured that nothing would derail him from fulfilling all his electioneering campaign promises.
However, the governor urged all political office holders to, at all times, speak the truth to power irrespective of party affiliation.
He said the allegation of N2 billion allegedly spent on political appointees was untrue, and dismissed the statement as “most unfortunate”.
