Gov Tambuwa declared curfew in Sokoto state following protest erupted as two arrested over Deborah’s murder~details below
The Governor of Sokoto state Aminu Tambuwa has imposed a curfew to stop the spread of violent protest following the murder of Deborah Samuel.
The protest break out on Saturday morning when the police alleged that they had made arrest of two suspects involving the murder of the undergraduate. The protesters are demanding the release of the arrested suspects.
Governor Tambuwa reacting to the protest, said, “I hereby declare curfew for Sokoto metropolis forthe next 24 hours. Im pleading to you all to calm and allow the government to handle the situation amicably, I’m pleading they you all should obey the rule law as I gave you all my assurance that the government will take appropriate measures to resolved the situation”, he said.
Recall that Deborah, was a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto state, who was murdered on Thursday by angry mob following the allegation of blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad.
