The presence of numerous Black superstars at this year's CMT Music Awards irritated a white right-wing reporter. The appearance of Anthony Mackie and Monica at the award presentation triggered a racist outburst from reporter Patrick Howley, who claimed that the CMTs had "so many Black folks."

Monica performed at the occasion, and Howley was chastised for attempting to belittle Monica's success in country music. "It's NOT by the masses," she added, acknowledging that there may be a demographic of people who agree with the reporter.

"I have an all-star LEGENDARY team of authentic country artists working with me right now who would disagree! Because of @lesliefram1's and @cmt's sincere hearts... @jimmieallen and @littlebigtown joined me on stage... This was only the first of many visits from me! I see you saw my skin is tanned, but you didn't see how harsh it was "she penned "I'm firmly established in the Bible and constructed to last! Welcome to Wakanda, or should I say 'See you soon,' elegantly bows with @anthonymackie MDA: 'OPEN ROADS COMING SOON.'"
