 It was a horrible event as flood leaves More than 300 people dead in South Africa's eastern province of KwaZulu-Natal. Hundreds more have lost their homes while search teams are still trying to uncover scores of people stocked in the flood mishap.


It was gathered that water spilled excessively from several hydroelectric dams. Power and communications lines have been cut off. 


Meanwhile, Further heavy rain forecast has been revealed. The South African president Cyril Ramaphosa has described the devastating event as a "catastrophe" for the country. 


While on a visit to some of the worst-hit areas, he promised to involve more government help, to house the displaced and others.


However, the director of Gift of the Givers Foundation (GGF) Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, a humanitarian charity helping with the response to the disaster. 


He said, "If the water came with such force to throw shipping containers against a bridge, you can imagine what it's done to flimsy houses when streams became rivers within minutes." He expects the death-toll to rise as rescue workers gain access to more areas.
