Today 5 September, 2021 a military coup was successfully carried out in Guinea by Colonel Mamady Doumbouya where the president of Guinea Alpha Conde has been arrested by Guinea armies.

 following this military coup out break president Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the coup plotters to immediately restore constitutional order in the country.

The Guinea military has taken control of the government and suspended the country’s constitution and ousted the democratically elected president Alpha Conde from office as the conflict escalate

While speaking to reporters on Sunday, Esther Sunsuwa, spokesperson for the Nigerian foreign affairs ministry, said that, the coup d’etat violates ECOWAS protocol on democracy and good governance.

“The Nigerian government is saddened by the apparent coup d’etat that has taken place in the Republic of Guinea today, in clear violation of the ECOWAS protocol of democracy and good governance,” 

“The government of Nigeria strongly condemns and rejects any unconstitutional change of government and therefore calls on those behind this coup to restore constitutional order without delay and protect all lives and properties,” she added.

Guinea soldiers on Sunday said they have taken control of the government and suspended the constitution.

Colonel Mamady Doumbouya of the Guinea military said in a video recorded in the capital Conakry that the National Assembly has been dissolved and suspended hence forth.

The colonel also disclosed that all land and air routes have been shut down in the interim, asking citizens to remain at home and await further instruction on the directives of the new government.
