A fuel tanker exploded in Al-ihsan filling station at the sharada municipal area in Kano

According to report the incident occurred on Saturday with a total number of 75 people hospitalized with over 65 others sustained series of injuries.

According to eye witnesses, the fire engulfed before the explosion while offloading the driver ignored the caution sign "smoking not allowed" and light up his cigarette as he stand close to the offloading tank. 

Malam Saminu Abdullahi, spokesman kano fire service who confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday in Kano.

Mr Abdullahi further noted that the tanker engulfed with fire when they were offloading the petroleum products at the fuel station.

He further said, eight out of the injured victims were fire service personnel

He concluded that although, no live was lost however, the state commissioner for works Mr Idris Unguwar Rimi, attributed the incident to the negligence of the filling station.
